The Osai Trust has taken a strong step toward environmental restoration through its Lake Rejuvenation Initiative — focusing on reviving and protecting lakes in Perumbakkam, Chemmanchery, Kannagi Nagar, and Padappai.
Once vital sources of water and biodiversity, these lakes have suffered severe degradation due to urbanization, encroachments, and waste dumping. The result has been a sharp decline in water quality, groundwater depletion, and increased health and environmental risks for local residents.
🔹 Over 70% of nearby households now rely on tanker or borewell water.
🔹 Frequent flooding and stagnation affect community hygiene.
🔹 Local flora and fauna have nearly vanished due to pollution.
